I recently signed up for information on a new SEO and online business program that was to make me an internet guru. I should have known better, because about four years ago I did exactly the same thing with what I shall call an Internet Marketing Center. I read online about this mentoring program and how for a low cost I could learn from the expertise of this Internet Marketing Company - it was quite a famous one, well listed on Google. I provided my first name and email address for more information, as you do.
He then asked me for my credit card details: how many cards I had and how much credit I had on each. He then asked for $12,000. Obviously I refused, but he went on at me, and eventually agreed to provide me with a cut down version of the mentoring program for $6,500. Being na? I relented under his sales pressure, and gave him the numbers of my two credit cards. I now had 2 cards up to the hilt on credit.
To cut it short, I was given information available free online, and ended up with an ebook of which I sold 12 copies at $27. No mention of improved search engine ranking methods, or any other ways of getting my website in the top page of the listings. My page wasn't even in the top 100 because I went through the top 10+ pages and not one of my web pages was there. I would have though my $65.00 would have at least earned that information, but no. I decided then that I would teach myself how to get my web pages listed on the first page of Google's search results.
Where this is going is that I recently received another phone call in response to some other form I must have filled in, but can't recall. This guy offered me the earth if I gave him my credit card details. He stared by telling me that if I didn't take his offer we would part as friends. However, when I refused I got nothing but abuse: he ended by telling me I was a failure and deserved to fail because I had refused his great offer.
This was one of the top SEO programs online at the moment, but I can't remember which it was because I was so shocked at this guy's attitude. He said if I failed to make money, then his company would offer me a company credit card to pay of what I owed my own credit card company - yeah. . .
I was a failure till I discovered Adsense arbitrage and some other online money-making tricks, and when he called me that I laughed at him. However, it could have been a traumatic experience for a newbie like I was the time I made my mistake, and I think such sales methods should be outlawed.
You don't need it. You can succeed without these so-called top dogs or internet guru big-heads that abuse you if you don't do as they say and give them your money. All you need to succeed is to have a bit of tenacity and be positive that you will succeed, and some knowledge of how to get your web pages noticed by the search engines. In fact you don't even need the search engines. You can make a lot of money without ever using a search engine, or needing it to list you.
Nevertheless, you can get your website listed on Google if you want, and in a high position for a number of your keywords. All you have to do is to use some simple rules on each of your web pages and to connect them together in the right way. You don't need to pay $12,500 or max out two of your credit card - doing that only adds to the robbery happening on the internet day in and day out by people who lie to you.
What is true is that you must learn some simple rules, and also learn some simple information that, yes, is on the internet if you know where to look, but also that needs put together in a certain way that not everybody knows about. If you know how to link your website pages together properly, how to link them to some external web pages and how to construct and write each page to keep the search engines happy, then that is all the information you need.
An improved search engine ranking is not difficult to achieve, and it is also easy to get listed on Google with two days if you know how to do it. In fact there many secrets and tidbits of SEO information available that can make all the difference to your website, although you have to find them before you can use them to your advantage.
